Your child should start seeing the dentist around their first birthday or six months after their first tooth erupts. The dentist will screen your child for any problems with their teeth or gums. If no problems are detected, your child can continue seeing the dentist every six months until the age of three. However, it is also essential to make sure your child is eating a healthy diet so that their teeth can grow strong and healthy.

Dairy Products

Milk, cheese, and yogurt are all good for a child’s teeth. Dairy products are full of calcium, which strengthens growing teeth. The teeth’s enamel is strengthened when kids consume calcium.

If your child has braces, make sure to avoid hard cheeses and nuts. Hard snacks can break off brackets and wires.

Also, a lot of kids enjoy drinking milk. Children should drink low-fat or skim milk.

Fruit and Vegetables

Fruit and vegetables are great for kids’ teeth. Their crunchy nature helps remove plaque and food debris from your child’s teeth. They also contain many vitamins and minerals that are good for your child’s overall oral health. Plus, many fruits contain natural sugars that can help neutralize acids that attack your child’s teeth.

Limit your child’s intake of soda and sugary foods. Make sure that they eat a healthy, balanced diet of fruits and vegetables.

Meat, Fish, and Eggs

Meat, fish, and eggs are all high in phosphorus, which is an important nutrient for oral health. They also contain protein, which aids in the production of enamel, the hard outer layer of teeth.

Water

All children should drink plenty of water. Besides hydrating the child’s body, water also keeps gums hydrated. Water will help flush away plaque and bacteria that can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Water also rinses away food particles and bacteria that stick to teeth.

If possible, you should give your child water instead of sugary drinks like juice or soda. These drinks can cause your child to get cavities early and should be avoided.
